The introduction of the city’s first cashless transit tariff system, in the form of the public transport smartcard has redefined the way Durban’s commuters pay their bus fares. The name, logo and visual identity for the revolutionary payment system, as well as an extensive education and awareness campaign, successfully captured the ease of use and approachable nature of the brand through its modern, colourful design. During the pilot phase over 20 000 cards were distributed to commuters to use as fare payment and the success of the Muvo Card will see a roll-out across more modes of transport in the future.
